Soda Firing. A Soda kiln is designed to allow a Soda vapor to flow through the kiln attaching it’s self to the up draft side of the pots.

Soda( Dry Baking Soda mixture) is introduced to the kiln through ports built into the kiln. It is either dropped in using an angle iron as a means to hold the mixture, or water is added and it is sprayed in using a heavy duty bug sprayer.

The Soda vaporizes in the super hot kiln and finds it’s way out the flue . As it heads toward the flue, it coats the pots and causes them to take on all sorts of beautiful colors and textures.
